About the event

Brush off your detective skills by following the story of Broadway star William Gillette, who has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. When one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. From the internationally acclaimed imagination of Ken Ludwig, The Naples Players present The Game’s Afoot, a murderously funny whodunnit that will keep audience members laughing and following the clues until the very end. Show director James Duggan says, “The Game’s Afoot invites audiences to not only watch and enjoy but try to solve the mystery themselves. It really pays homage to the Sherlock Holmes stories we know and love but with a comedic twist.” While Duggan is relatively new to the TNP director’s chair, his name should sound familiar to regular patrons of The Naples Players, having portrayed several comedic roles over the years, most recently as Charles Condomine in Blithe Spirit. “Farces are my bread and butter,” says Duggan. “I come from a background of physical comedy, commedia dell’arte, and movement so the stylistic comedy in The Game’s Afoot is a perfect blend of my interests and experience.” Duggan will be joined by the following production team: scenic designer Bailey McClure, lighting designer Hannah Wolland, sound designer Sean McGinley, costume designer Dayne Sabatos and stage manager Jules Branche. Additionally, Duggan will lead an all-star ensemble cast of Naples favorites, many of whom have become regular staples of The Naples Players most popular shows. The cast includes (in alphabetical order): Rachel Borwein, Marcus Dean Fuller, Shelley Gothard, Luke Jaconis, Terry Libby, Giuseppe Loduca, Tina Moroni and Summer Pliskow. A red carpet event open to the public is slated for Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and features local vendors, food, drinks and live music from the band Chariot. From Jan. 11 – Feb. 5, performances are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. General public tickets are on sale for $47 at the TNP Box Office. Season ticket holders are offered a price of $37. Those interested can visit online at NaplesPlayers.org anytime or call the TNP Box Office at 239-263-7990. The theatre is located at 701 5th Ave. S in Naples.
