The Hangout by Two Guys Honors Grandma’s Meatballs on National Meatball Day

The aroma of Sunday dinners, filled with the comforting scents of gravy simmering and meatballs sizzling, is a cherished memory for many. For Peter Falisi, founder of The Hangout by Two Guys restaurant in Naples, these childhood memories are not just nostalgic but have become the cornerstone of his culinary journey. Inspired by his grandmother’s cherished meatball recipe, Peter, alongside his brother chef Larry, embarked on a mission to share the warmth and flavor of their family tradition with the world.

The story of The Hangout by Two Guys is one rooted in family values and the desire to offer guests an authentic taste of Italian home cooking. Established in 2020, the restaurant has quickly become a beloved fixture in North Naples, thanks to its dedication to preserving the legacy of Grandma’s meatballs. Now, in celebration of National Meatball Day on Saturday, March 9th, The Hangout by Two Guys is introducing a new annual tradition to honor their grandmother – offering guests a complimentary Grandma’s Meatball with sauce with every order throughout the day.

"Grandma’s meatballs have been a cherished secret recipe passed down through several Falisi generations,” says Peter. “These beautifully seasoned spheres of three meats are the ultimate comfort food, made with love and traditional ingredients, and served with our family’s marinara sauce.”

The history of meatballs traces back through centuries and across cultures, evolving from Persian kofta to Italian polpette. At The Hangout by Two Guys, Grandma’s meatballs are crafted with a blend of ground beef, pork, and veal, seasoned with garlic, parsley, and other traditional herbs and spices. The result is a dish that transcends generations, embodying the essence of homemade comfort food.

Chef Larry shares his expertise on various ways to enjoy Grandma’s Meatballs beyond the restaurant’s doors, offering pairing suggestions such as serving them over polenta, risotto, or mashed potatoes for a hearty meal. For those seeking lighter options, meatballs can be enjoyed with salads or paired with roasted vegetables. The versatility of Grandma’s Meatballs lends itself to endless culinary possibilities, from classic Italian pasta dishes to innovative fusion creations.

The Hangout by Two Guys invites guests to experience the warmth of family and the richness of tradition on National Meatball Day and every day thereafter. Whether dining in, taking out, or opting for delivery, patrons can savor the taste of Grandma’s Meatballs with every bite, reaffirming the timeless appeal of homemade Italian cuisine.
